ABOUT US 
As an independent Health and Safety Consultant, Steve works for companies employing just a few employees, to being the Group Health and Safety Advisor for a large Agricultural and Food Processing company employing around 2000 people.
In addition, he also represents clients at a national level on health and safety matters, and is the chair of the Health and Safety committee of a large national trade association.
Steve Thompson has been a safety professional for over 17 years. Working as a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Inspector for 6 years, he then joined the Engineering Employers Federation (EEF) as a Senior Health and Safety Consultant before starting his own Safety Consultancy in 2000.
Steve retains strong links with the HSE, and is a member of the HSE’s Food and Drink Manufacture Health and Safety Forum (http://www.hse.gov.uk/food/forum.htm). He has also contributed to industry specific HSE guidance via various HSE/Industry working groups.
Steve has a Post Graduate Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health, is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), and is an IOSH Registered Safety Consultant. To develop his knowledge of noise assessment and control, in 2005 Steve studied for the Institute of Acoustics accredited Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Measurement at the University of the West of England.
Prior to working in safety, Steve was a Senior Quality Engineer and Systems Auditor/ISO 9000 Lead Assessor in the automotive industry.
